I'm just another artist/storyteller. I hope you enjoy your stay at my website :)

About me

My name is Athena Elliot Scott (they/them). I am a storyteller, artist, and English student at Louisiana Tech University who works with words by day and illustration by night. I draw inspiration from anything and everything, especially music, travel, indie comics, and my own daydreams. Playing around with my characters’ dynamics—and putting said characters through existential horrors—is my favorite pastime. My current projects include the webcomic series On the Throne of Dreams and a work-in-progress Queer romance novel Ephemeral Now (working title).

On the Throne of Dreams (OTTOD) is a comic series about maladaptive daydreaming, OCD, grief, and friendship, all wrapped up in fluffy cotton-candy colors.

The story

Destiny, Faelyn, and Millia, the three Futures of Dreamylydene, struggle with their lives as Communicators, those who live in both the Real World and the Fantasy World. And when the Night, a force of grief and anxiety comes to their hearts, they begin to feel a heavy sense of unease in both worlds. Guided by their kind mentor London, they begin a journey to find the answer to the Communicator’s Question: How does one live in both fantasy and reality?

About (im)pure press

(im)pure press (stylized in all lowercase letters) is my personal publishing title. (im)pure press carries stories that are strange, subpar, confusing, uncomfortable, pure, or impure. It is not beholden to typical genre classifications; it only exists as a vehicle, a label under which my work can be shared.
(im)pure press does not currently publish work from other creators at this time, only from myself.

Why "(im)pure"?

I have obsessive-compulsive disorder, known to most people as the must-have-color-coordinated-pens-perfectly-lined-up disorder. Or, if we are to use a more truthful definition, a mental illness that causes constant intrusive thoughts and fears as well as urges to engage in ritualistic behavior/thought patterns to mitigate the intrusive thoughts. My thoughts often cause me to feel broken, evil, or—if you will—impure, and my work is often inspired by my experiences being autistic and mentally ill. Therefore, I decided to use that sense for my press, with the prefix “im-” in parentheses to suggest uncertainty of whether or not something is “pure” or “impure.”
